The Tamaki Campus is a unique environment within The University of Auckland. Its role is to serve as a research-led, interdisciplinary campus with a high post-graduate presence and strong partnerships with industry and its neighbouring community.
The campus is based around five major disciplinary themes considered essential for economic growth and quality of life in New Zealand.
It provides facilities and the environment that enable public and private sector organisations to establish themselves on site and create partnerships with some of New Zealand's leading academics and researchers.

Health, Sport & Community | ||

With its School of Population Health, and Sport and Exercise Science programmes, Tamaki Campus has a strong focus on population and community health with teaching and research activities including injury prevention, alcohol and drug studies, gambling and immunisation.

The Computer Science Department, present at Tamaki since 1992, has a strong research record, and works in close collaboration with national and international research institutions and companies. These research activities inform its teaching programmes.

The University works in close collaboration with Landcare Research, a co-location partner at Tamaki, on several research projects including biodiversity and biosecurity, Maori environmental knowledge, and teaches a comprehensive postgraduate environmental science programme.

Food, Wine & Biotechnology | ||

Our wine science programme has close links with New Zealand's burgeoning wine industry, and involves researchers and lecturers working in wine related fields in chemistry, biological sciences, geography and international business working alongside leading New Zealand winemakers.

Tamaki is home to the Centre for Advanced Composite Materials and the Plastics Centre of Excellence, both world class research consortia working closely with industry to develop new materials and leading-edge technologies in manufacturing.

The Tamaki Campus is 20 minutes from The University of Auckland's city campus and overlooks the Tamaki river estuary.
Access to the campus is easy with a choice of rail, bus or private transport. The campus has ample student parking, is just a few minutes walk from Glen Innes train station and is served by several bus routes. A complimentary bus service between the Tamaki and City campuses also runs on a regular basis throughout the day. Read on
The campus has high quality, well equipped teaching and recreational facilities. It has 32 hectares of grounds with extensive native plantings, and sculptures by well known NZ artists are a feature.
