Biodiversity, Biosecurity and Conservation

Biodiversity, Biosecurity and Conservation is a research section of the School of Biological Sciences. Its primary goal is the conservation of New Zealand’s unique biodiversity through the development of world-class research.

PGDipSci and MSci (Biosecurity)

A Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Master of Science are both offered in Biosecurity. These are interdisciplinary programmes jointly delivered with the School of Environment and Landcare Research. The aim is to give science graduates and biosecurity practitioners the skills to move with confidence in the rapidly growing field of biosecurity.

Biodiversity, Biosecurity and Conservation comprises many of New Zealand’s pre-eminent experts in biosecurity, conservation biology, biodiversity research, and the development and application of new molecular technologies to biodiversity and biosecurity issues. They have strong links with Landcare Research, also located at Tāmaki, and together have recently launched a Joint Graduate School in Biodiversity and Biosecurity.
