I am delighted to welcome you to the Tāmaki Innovation Campus of the University of Auckland. The goal of Tāmaki is to support the aspirations and objectives stated in the University of Auckland’s Strategic Plan (2013-2020), and to contribute to the University’s mission to be ranked among the top 50 public universities in the world.
The Tāmaki Innovation Campus specialises in advanced postgraduate training and research activity focussed on two themes:
- Health Innovation
- Biodiversity and Biosecurity Innovation
These themes are interdisciplinary, represented from two University faculties – Medical and Health Sciences, and Science. An important aspect of the innovation themes is the strong link with partners who may be commercial organisations, government agencies, or not-for-profit organisations.
With the acquisition of the Newmarket Campus (the former Lion Nathan Breweries site), the University of Auckland is embarking on an exciting and lengthy development programme. It is anticipated that over time activities at the Tāmaki Innovation Campus will be relocated to the City, Grafton or Newmarket campuses.
Detailed planning is underway to bring about the best possible transition approach to minimise disruption. More details will be provided as development progresses. Throughout the transition, we are committed to maintaining a vibrant active community at the Tāmaki Innovation Campus and a high level of engagement with students, staff, industry partners, and community representatives.
The University of Auckland is undergoing a great deal of change which is both exciting and challenging, and it is anticipated that this will bring many new opportunities. I encourage to you interact and form liaisons with our innovative staff and researchers.
Associate Professor Greg Anson
